Summary
Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Manager to lead our wonderful team and support our community of children and their families. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursery and childcare settings, demonstrating effective leadership and communication skills. He or she will have a deep understanding of the importance of early years education and of how to support young children to thrive through child-led, free flow play.
Responsibilities
Leading good practice among the staff, training and inducting staff, putting together rotas which support our ethos and priorities, termly supervisions with staff
Ensuring that mandatory reviews are completed for all children and that paperwork is completed to support children’s transitions to school
Communicating with parents
Showing prospective parents around Playschool and organizing settling in sessions for new children and their Key People
Communicating with the Management Committee to update them about the running of Playschool and writing and presenting annual Manager’s Reports at the AGM
Liaising with the Scout Association to maintain a good working relationship and ensure that maintenance jobs are carried out in a timely manner
Putting registers together
Keeping the continuous provision updated according to the children’s needs, and ordering new equipment where necessary, including using Disability Living Allowance/Pupil Premium to meet the needs of specific children/groups of children
Designated Safeguarding Lead; ensuring that safeguarding training is kept updated and staff are regularly informed about new developments, attending Child in Need meetings, record keeping in line with confidentiality procedures
Liaising with the SENDCO to ensure that interventions are provided for children with additional needs, that the SENDCO has time to do her paperwork, and that staff are all aware of children’s needs and techniques to use to support the children
Arranging and attending community events (eg weekend trips to the park at the end of the holidays)
Being involved in the recruitment process for new staff
Working with the member of the staff team in charge of health and safety, to make sure that risk assessments are up to date and staff are familiar with them
Writing and updating policies when needed

Qualifications
A minimum of a full and relevant Level 3 qualification in early years education and care, as defined by the Department for Education on the Early Years Qualifications List and Ofsted Welfare Requirements, is essential
A minimum of two years' experience of working in early years settings
Strong leadership and management skills to guide and develop staff
Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members
Familiarity with nursery operations and best practices in child development
Safeguarding qualifications, and/or willingness to train as Designated Safeguarding Lead
Expected hours: 32 – 44 per week
Education:
A-Level or equivalent (preferred)
