You see, when we launched the first Hotel Gotham in Manchester, it was billed as ‘Europe’s sexiest hotel’. Now it’s Newcastle’s time to enjoy the Gotham effect. Gotham Newcastle is located in the Old Fire Station which was originally built in 1931–1933 based on designs by Cackett, Burns Dick and Mackellar. Baroque Revival in style, a handsome steel framed building with rusticated Portland stone and brick cladding.
The restaurant is a stylish destination in its own right, Gotham’s Newcastle restaurant mixes turn of the century elegance with a moody undertone. Invoking the building’s history, a palette of period inspired, quirky details ensure a welcoming space where guests can expect plush surroundings, accompanied by an enticing, contemporary menu, with ingredients sourced from the finest local producers.
As our Restaurant Manager you will take care of the stage for a sumptuous hotel experience offering opulence and luxury. Give our guests the amazing VIP treatment from when the curtain lifts on entry to the hotel. You must be fully flexible working 5 over 7 days and a variety of daytime or evening shifts.
You’ll join a friendly, talented and dedicated cast who deliver exceptional service. The ideal candidate will have superb personal presentation and terrific team spirit. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- To be continuously providing efficient and courteous service to all guests of the venue, assisting all guests in a sincere and gracious manner, wherever possible going the extra mile to guarantee guest satisfaction
- To oversee the restaurant operation ensuring smooth delivery in all departments and with all team members
- Support and enhance the restaurant team and their delivery of service
- Create a healthy and positive working environment and strategy between all departments of the food and beverage team, and other outlets
- Oversee all kitchen and restaurant staff, providing and delivery necessary feedback to ensure the strive for excellence is maintained
- Organise and oversee the reservation system and table planning of the restaurant, ensuring all prearrival and during visit is taken care of
- Comply with all health and safety regulations required
- Create, organise and oversee work schedules within the food and beverage department to ensure the restaurant is equipped to deliver exceptional service
- Responsible for all training and reviewing of staff within the food and beverages team
- Assist with daily reporting, budgeting etc. as determined by senior management to ensure revenue and KPIs are met
- Organise all stock and supply of the restaurant
- Maintain the weekly and monthly rota and payroll
- Create a learning environment where all staff members are fully coherent in the menu, offerings and services of the restaurant as well as the wider venue
- Upselling and enhancing the guest journey within the department through the team and training of them
- Responsible for all VIP tables and events, ensuring their needs are met wherever possible within the venue
- Working with the head chef to create and wow the customer at every angle
- Ensuring room service, and all other food outlets are catered for at the highest standard
Achieve the highest level possible of guest satisfaction within the restaurant department but actively involved in all others and promote this within their team
