We are seeking to appoint a substantive Consultant Clinical Oncologist tojoin our existing site-specialist multidisciplinary teams in the field of Neuro Oncology Cancers based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in the Barts Cancer Centre. A second tumour site will be agreed in conjunction with the successful candidate (Head & Neck, Lower GI or Breast).

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate professional excellence and the ability to deliver effective care. This post is advertised as a full time 10 PA position; an alternative timetable would need to be requested prior to appointment for consideration by the Clinical Director.

You will require full registration with the General Medical Council with a licence to practice.

o contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, efficient and high-quality evidence-based Clinical Oncology service, with continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.

Leadership, development, and organisation of the services in their charge in line with Trust / Divisional business plans. Full participation in the management of the Barts Cancer Centre (BCC). Liaison and communication with the Divisional Manager, General Manager, Associate Director of Nursing and Head of Radiotherapy

To develop their own interests within oncology, including active participation in research programmes.

To have corporate and individual responsibility for the professional management of doctors in training.

To have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out in the NHS Radiotherapy Service Specification and National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidance reports.

To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with General Practitioners, community services, and all healthcare agencies.

To maintain and promote team and multidisciplinary work.

The post holder will work with Dr Rachel Lewis and Dr Hamoun Rozati to provide the Neuro-Oncology service for patients in North East London and in Essex.

The post holder will also cover another tumour site (head and neck, breast, lower GI) to be agreed with the Clinical Director.

The service covers East London with referrals from Whipps Cross, Homerton and Newham Hospitals with non-surgical care of patients shared with medical oncology colleagues.

It is expected that the post holder will actively participate in recruitment to and development of research studies related to their clinical interests

To provide, with colleagues, clinical care and supervision of patients attending the Paget Oncology Chemotherapy Day Unit.

To provide, with colleagues, care for patients attending the radiotherapy department and to advise and treat patients with oncological emergencies from Barts Health NHS Trust and also Homerton NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will contribute to the training and education of oncology trainees and also undergraduates and non-medical personnel.
