Crynodeb

In relation to this post, this is a full time 10 PA appointment for a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon with a sub-speciality interest in aortic surgery within Cardio-Respiratory Clinical Service Unit. There are currently six substantive consultants working full-time within the service. All consultants are based at the Yorkshire Heart Centre on the Leeds General Infirmary site. There will be 1.5 all-day operating sessions per week. It is expected that the surgeon will work flexibly to organise to cover the theatre schedule in order to fulfil the required operating sessions per year according to the locally agreed SLA 63 operation sessions over the 42-week working year. The YHC serves a population of 2.7 million for cardiac surgery and specialised cardiology. There is a strong research base with a desire to use and evaluate new technology. There are active teaching and research links with Leeds School of Medicine and the University of Leeds, both well situated on adjacent sites. 2. OBJECTIVES OF THE POST 2.1 To deliver care to patients within Cardiac at the LGI Out-patient clinics Supervision of patients On-call rota 1 in 7 Contribute to Specialist Multi-disciplinary team meetings 2.2 To link with consultant colleagues in other relevant site specialist teams working closely with Cardiology, Radiology and Vascular Surgery. 2.3 To work with colleagues in Cardiac Surgery to deliver acute on call (1 in 7). This includes both out-of-hours cover in addition to acute ward rounds during normal working hours. Mentoring and support will be provided, including out of hours, on call and weekend working. 2.4 To contribute to research, teaching, and new developments within Cardiac Surgery. The post holder will be encouraged to facilitate and contribute to the current clinical research programs on going in the department.
