Due to retirement of the current post holder an exciting opportunity has arisen for an interim Chief Pharmacist within Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will work as an integrated member of the pharmacy team and will provide senior leadership for Medicines Management, ensuring the Trust-wide delivery of safe, effective and efficient Medicines Optimisation.
The post holder will be responsible for Trust wide pharmacy services and must be strategic in developing innovative services whilst upholding statutory requirements related to the safe and effective running of our pharmacy services.
• Act as professional head of service for Pharmacy services to Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust.
• Responsible for all people and financial resources in the main Trust pharmacy service and advise on management of other pharmacies through service leads and operational managers.
• Act as lead for the Trust on Medicines Optimisation and provide expert interpretation to the Board and Senior Managers on all Medicines Optimisation issues to ensure compliance with all legislative, governance and operational aspects of Medicines Optimisation.
• To work with partnership organisations on the development of joint Medicines Optimisation strategies in the local health system.
• Contribute to various groups and committees in the Trust such as the Pharmacological Therapies Committee, Clinical Governance Committee, Medicines Safety Group.
• To manage and maintain the Pharmacy budget and resources.
• To represent the Trust on external medicines related groups or committees
• To support the Accountable Officer for Controlled Drugs for the Trust in the management of controlled drugs across BSMHFT
• To implement the Trust Medicines Optimisation strategy and work plan and other medicines optimisation projects eg Digital medicines work
