The post holder will be one of 2 Consultant Psychiatrists to the Greenwich East Intensive Case Management for Psychosis Team (ICMp) with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a job share with a well-established consultant that reduced their hours several years ago as part of retirement plans. The post has been filled by a locum associate specialist for the past few years.

The post holder willbe responsible forthe care and treatment of patients whoreceivehigh leveland complexmental health care (formerlyon CPA)within the team. This will involve attending multi-disciplinary team meetings, case discussion meetings, andweeklyreferralsmeetingswithinthe team.

The post holder will be expected to attend zoning meetings at least twice a week to prioritizecontacts with patients, especially those service users who are deteriorating and presenting with increasing risk.The postholder will be expectedto support the team with the development of robust crisis plans for those patients that may be deteriorating.


The post holder will in addition be expected to chairreview/CPA meetings, offer crisis appointments to patients who are in the red zone and offer home visits and telephone advice to general practitioners and other professional who may be involved with the care of service users on the caseload.

The post holder will have4 formal outpatient clinics a weekwith 4-5 patients booked per clinic. The consultant and other team medics willbe responsible forscreening new referrals and ensuring that theyreceive a prompt assessmentfromthe team. This follows a framework with other team members to offeran InitialFamily Meeting (IFM) where goals andobjectivesand completion of a DIALOG care-plan are agreed.There may beadditionalcrisis clinic appointments and/or home visitsrequiredduring the week and the consultant will beexpected to showflexibility in managing their diary.

Within the clinics,some patients will have a careco-ordinatorand willformerly have been on CPA and other patients may only be seeingadoctor who will act as the lead clinician.There are various projects in place looking at ways of reducing theICMpcaseload and aligning this with the Trustobjectivesof providinggreatout of hospital careandreducing any delays to treatment.


There is protected time for administrative work, and the postholder will be supported with any digital/electronic/technological help asrequiredtofacilitatetimelycommunication with GPs,referrersand partner agencies.


Time will berequiredandallocatedto deal with mental health act related work including attending tribunals for patients on community treatment orders(CTO)


The post holder will have supervision duties for the Associate SpecialistandGPVTS Trainee working with theteamand this will be agreed with the other consultant.It is expected that weekly supervisionsupports the junior doctors with complex cases and othereducational and pastoral issues.
