HOURS: Full Time

WORKING PATTERN: We adopt hybrid working style which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our London office.

About this opportunity

We are seeking a Lead Quality Engineer to join our Personalised Experiences and Communications Platform within our product engineering cross-functional teams. This role is pivotal in mentoring and coaching Quality Engineers (QEs) and other colleagues, driving process improvements, and ensuring quality is prioritized throughout the software development lifecycle.

The key responsibilities include guiding QEs and software engineers in quality engineering practices, resolving complex technical issues with excellent analytical skills, and continuously enhancing quality engineering processes.

Additionally, the role involves developing and implementing automated testing strategies, staying updated with the latest QE practices and industry trends, overseeing QE governance within the platform, and engaging in technical communities to foster shared capabilities.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with extensive QE knowledge and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions, focusing on building and managing a high-performing, autonomous team.

Why Lloyds Banking Group.

We're on an exciting transformation journey and there could not be a better time to join us. The investments we're making in our people, data, and technology are leading to innovative projects, fresh possibilities and countless new ways for our people to work, learn, and thrive.

What you'll need:

  • Proven experience in backend engineering, particularly with data-intensive, distributed, and low-latency systems.

  • Proven experience in Quality Engineering, with a focus on software automation.

  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development and testing.

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in QE strategies and standard approaches in software testing.

  • Strong understanding of security principles and secure coding practices.

  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

And any experience of these would be really useful:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  • Familiarity with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).

  • Familiarity with data processing technologies (e.g., Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS, Azure).

  • Understanding of data management principles and distributed system architectures.

About working for us

Our focus is to ensure we're inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms.

We're committed to creating a consciously inclusive workplace where our colleagues can be themselves, thrive and perform at their best. We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer Initiative.

As an inclusive employer, we offer Workplace Adjustments for colleagues with a disability (which may include long-term health and neurodivergent conditions) where it is reasonable to do so. This could include flexibility with regards to office attendance, location, and working pattern.

We're proud to be a Disability Confident Leader. If you have a disability, you can also apply via our Disability Confident Scheme (DCS). Through the DCS, we guarantee to interview a fair and proportionate number of applicants with a disability, whose application meets the minimum criteria for the advertised job role.

We also provide adjustments that are reasonable throughout the recruitment process to reduce or remove barriers for applicants with a disability, long-term health condition or neurodivergent condition. If you'd like an adjustment to the recruitment process just let us know.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%

  • An annual performance-related bonus

  • Share schemes including free shares

  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping

  • 30 days' holiday, with bank holidays on top

  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
