We are currently looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to join the Cardiac Rehabilitation service at Southend University Hospital part of the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. The service provides rehabilitation following cardiac events in the form of classes and telephone consultations to support long term recovery and return to fitness.

The successful candidate would be required to have experience in a variety of band 5 rotations and demonstrate an interest in cardiac rehabilitation services. They would be required to demonstrate excellent communication, organisational skills and flexibility in order to support the provision of the clinical service alongside the data collection requirements of the post.

You will involve be responsible for the assessment of patients with a variety of cardiac conditions and / or surgeries, setting them up on the most appropriate pathway to support their individual needs, monitoring their progress during their treatment and referring them on to appropriate services on completion of their course. The role will also involve leading the exercise component of the cardiac rehabilitation classes and delivering the education sessions.

This role will involve providing supervision and training to band 4 , as well as providing advice to rehabilitation staff within the inpatient services with regard to cardiac condition management.

For full details of this role please see the attached job description, but key responsibilities of the role include:
• To assess patients following cardiac events or cardiac surgery providing patient specific advice and pathway management
• To monitor patients progress during their cardiac rehabilitation course, modifying as required to support the individual needs
• To make timely referrals for patients to appropriate community services following completion of hospital classes
• To maintain accurate records for patients attending assessments and cardiac rehabilitation classes
• To maintain accurate data in line with the data collection requirements of the service.
• To participate in service development alongside the Band 7 for the service.
