Crynodeb
The post holder will: Work as part of the Acute Medicine team, supporting the care of patients admitted to the AMUs and acute side rooms. Participate in daily ward rounds, assess acutely unwell patients, and manage a wide range of medical conditions. Take patient histories, perform clinical examinations, and formulate treatment plans. Contribute to patient safety by ensuring accurate documentation and effective communication with colleagues. Assist in the supervision of junior medical staff and medical students. Engage in quality improvement projects, audits, and departmental teaching sessions. Opportunities to develop procedural skills (e.g. arterial blood gas sampling, lumbar punctures, and pleural aspiration) will be available, along with participation in education and research activities within the department. The post holder will work closely with other members of the acute medicine team to ensure high quality patient care is delivered within the strategic framework agreed by the team. They will also work closely with the appropriate clinical management teams. The post will provide excellent short-term experience in acute and general medicine for those pursuing a career in a medical specialty.
