37.5 hours a week (Mon-Fri 9:00-17:30)
10 holidays set by employer + 20 days annual leave
Also possibility of part-time, 1 day a week.
The successful candidate will be working in a small team (1 optometrist, 2 optical assistants) providing eye care through the NHS and privately. Reception, dispensing and clinical assistant duties will be shared between the 2 optical assistants. This position requires professionalism, meticulous record keeping and patient confidentiality. The successful applicant may be requested to provide a disclosure.
Job description
● receptionist (answer phone, book appointments, data entry, stock ordering, handling of cash and NHS documents)
● dispensing optician (customer service, frame measurements, lens measurements, interpretation of prescriptions, spectacle ordering, spectacle repairs)
● clinical assistant (visual field screening, prescription analysis, contact lens care instruction) maintaining a clean work environment
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate these qualities
● self motivated and able to work alone
● excellent arithmetic skills (A level maths or equivalent preferred)
● polite and helpful manner when dealing with customers
● computer literate (word processing, spreadsheets)
