Crynodeb
Our team works closely with industry to drive growth, building talent, and ensuring the creative industries continue to benefit individuals, communities, the environment and the UK.
Creative industry sectors we support include: film and high-end TV, video games and e-sports, music, publishing, fashion and design. We also develop policy related to cross-cutting areas including AI and innovation, R&D, investment, skills, trade and international activity.
We work with sectors, experts and analysts to develop policy, with partners across government to promote the value of our sectors and encourage their growth, and deliver projects and programmes either directly with our sectors, or through and with our Public Bodies. We pride ourselves on our inclusive and respectful team environment, with ample opportunities to get involved in corporate work such as our social committee or staff networks.
The UK has a world-class Film and High-End (HETV) ecosystem which contributes billions to our economy, fuels tens of thousands of jobs and is a huge source of soft power on the global stage. This is an exciting and stretching role, which is focused on: delivering economic growth; boosting investment and exports; supporting the drivers of production; and leading our international engagement.
Your focus will be on contributing to the development and delivery of the Creative Industries Sector Plan, which is part of the government’s Industrial Strategy.
You will:
- Drive forward ministers’ priorities, and identify, assess, and respond to the challenges and opportunities facing the film and HETV sectors.
- Engage with partners at the British Film Institute (BFI), British Film Commission, and industry stakeholders to best understand, champion, and - as appropriate - challenge the sector.
- Lead the UK’s engagement with international partners in this sector, and seek to influence decisions made by international partners. This includes representing the UK at the annual European Audiovisual Observatory.
- Manage your time in a job where no two days are the same - with activity ranging from developing and programme managing the £28m UK Global Screen Fund, to negotiating film treaties with other nations, to engaging with HM Treasury and HMRC on tax reliefs and business rates.
- Assess and approve ‘cultural test’ certification - overseeing the system run by the BFI by which film and HETV productions qualify for UK tax reliefs.
