Job Summary:
As an Occupational Therapist (LBR11), you will be responsible for providing high-quality therapy services to individuals across various settings. Your primary role will be to assess and support clients with physical, mental, and emotional conditions to help them perform daily tasks and improve their quality of life. This will involve developing tailored treatment plans, recommending interventions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' physical, mental, and emotional well-being to identify their occupational therapy needs. This may include home visits or assessments in different community or healthcare settings.
Therapy Planning & Intervention: Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that address clients' functional needs. Provide therapeutic interventions that focus on improving clients' ability to perform daily tasks and regain independence.
Rehabilitation Support: Work with clients to improve their mobility, fine motor skills, cognitive function, and other key areas impacted by illness, injury, or disability. Offer therapeutic exercises and activities designed to enhance skills and restore independence.
Assistive Equipment: Advise clients and their families on the use of assistive devices (e.g., mobility aids, adapted tools) to support daily activities. Assess the need for home or workplace modifications and recommend appropriate changes.
Collaborative Care: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers, and psychologists, to ensure an integrated approach to care. Attend multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss clients' progress and future care plans.
Client Education: Educate clients and their families on strategies to manage conditions, prevent injury, and improve overall well-being. Offer guidance on lifestyle changes, exercises, and activities that promote independence.
Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, documenting assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and any changes in the client's condition or needs.
Case Management: Monitor client progress regularly and adjust therapy interventions as needed. Ensure that clients are receiving the most effective and appropriate services for their needs.
Promote Independence: Encourage clients to develop strategies that allow them to perform activities of daily living (ADLs) independently or with minimal assistance. Provide the necessary support to help clients adapt to their environment or condition.
Compliance & Best Practice: Adhere to all relevant legislation, regulations, and professional standards in the delivery of occupational therapy services. Ensure services are delivered in a way that meets local policies and best practices.
Supervision & Mentorship: Depending on experience and seniority, provide supervision and mentorship to junior staff or students on placement.
