Crynodeb
The SMART Service is nurse led, therefore the ability to work autonomously as well as effectively within a team is essential. The work will include visiting patient in the community therefore it is essential that you have a full UK driving license and a car. The Staff Nurse must also be able to liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate safe effective and timely care practices within the SMART service. The Staff Nurse must also be able to care for OPAT (Outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy) and post-operative patients. Full support and training will be provided to be able to support these patients safely. As a SMART nurse teaching, auditing, infection control practices and undergoing research are activities undertaken within the role. To apply you should be competent in cannulation, venepuncture, general surgical wound care, drain care. The service prides itself of being innovative, so an added vast expertise is welcomed. We are always very keen to expand the service further so any new ideas are welcomed. You should also have access to a car and be able to drive to visit patients at home when required. SMART will support with training to enable the successful candidate to meet the demanding and exciting challenges of the role.
