Summary
Abbeyfield Northumbria has an immediate vacancy for a part-time Day Care Assistant to work 21 hours per week Monday to Sunday on a rota basis at The Grove, Gosforth, NE3 1NH.
The pay is £12.68 per hour and we offer a wide range of benefits, including: enhanced overtime rates; health and wellbeing package with EAP and private dental insurance; life assurance and enhanced long-service leave allowances. We also provide uniform and training and development opportunities.
As a Day Care Assistant, you will provide a professional care, both physical and emotional, delivering quality care to residents. Our ethos is person-centred care and enabling residents to live as independently as they wish.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping others and making a difference in the lives of residents. We are looking for applicants who are qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care but will consider unqualified applicants who are willing to work towards that qualification. We also encourage applicants over school-leaving age who might be looking for a career in Care. Full training and development support is given.

Duties:
- Personal care, such as: bathing, dressing and daily activities
- Assist with developing and monitoring Care Plans and residents' health
- Encouraging and supporting residents with independent living
- Assisting with mobility and providing emotional support
- Ensuring all regulations are followed and records kept up to date
- Attending meetings and training as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum GCSE or equivalent including English and Maths
- NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or similar qualification will be an advantage
- Minimum of one year experience working in a healthcare setting will be an advantage
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Compassionate and empathetic nature
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
