We now have a vacancy for a part time (22.5 hours), Band 2, Ward Clerk to work on the Neonatal unit at The Royal Oldham Hospital.

You will support the Neonatal Lead Nurse and team by undertaking a broad range of clerical duties including filing of reports and relevant documentation into patient records. You will undertake additional clerical duties under the supervisory control of the Unit/Departmental Manager.
• Clerical duties will include filing of reports and relevant documentation into patient records.
• Responsible for the daily organisation of results from laboratory, reporting data entry/retrieval and responding to telephone queries as appropriate.
• Additional clerical duties will be undertaken as determined by and under the supervisory control of the ward/departmental manager.
• Have responsibility for co-ordination and notification of discharges from the hospital setting into community care.
• Ensure that patients' notes and other documentation are prepared as necessary, observing ward/unit standards and expectations on accuracy and timeliness.
• Take responsibility for accurate data entry and retrieval via computer. Undertake daily patient safety audit.
• Ensure that discharged patient notes are returned promptly to appropriate secretaries or medical records department, in accordance with unit and government standards (data protection).
• Arrange follow-up appointments as required.
• Arrange transport when necessary.
• Ensure that patient admission books are maintained and that a record is kept of clinical activity, as required.
• Ensure that stationery/supplies are ordered as necessary.
• Provide a messenger service between the ward and other departments, including Pharmacy, Pathology and Stores undertaking errands as requested.
