We have an opportunity for a Consultant Midwife to join our team on a 12 month fixed term contract.
You will work closely with other healthcare professionals, commissioners, and policymakers to improve maternity care.
The successful candidate will:
· Provide expert midwifery care to women with complex needs or at high risk during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period.
· Act as a role model for evidence-based practice and deliver direct clinical care when required.
· Develop and implement innovative care pathways and guidelines to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes.
· Offer specialist advice to multidisciplinary teams, including obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals
· Lead the development of maternity services, ensuring they are aligned with national policies and local needs.
· Influence strategy and policy at both local and regional levels.
· Act as a voice for midwives, promoting midwifery-led care and advocating for women’s choice and safety.
· Implement quality improvement initiatives, ensuring care standards are maintained and enhanced.
Provide professional clinical leadership to inspire, motivate and empower midwives.
Lead the continuing development of a midwifery led, pregnant women and people focused model of care which promotes normal physiology across the antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care pathway and meets the key objectives where appropriate of national and local policy documents.
Provide expert practice and clinical excellence in midwifery led care.
Work collaboratively with the Head of Midwifery, Director of Midwifery/Head of Nursing, Director of Nursing.

Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites.
· Act as a role model for midwives by practising midwifery skills to the highest standard, whilst exercising a high degree of personal and professionalautonomy.
· Maintain a time commitment of 50% to practice with the emphasis on developing physiological birth, home birth and maintaining clinical excellence within the maternityservice.
· Work collaboratively with obstetricians to plan, deliver and evaluate care for pregnant women and people with complex health and wellbeing needs, for example, those planning vaginal birth after caesareansection
· Act as the lead consultant for the Birth Centres and maintain a highly visible and authoritative presence.
· Provide visionary, inspirational leadership and expertise to midwives promoting midwifery-ledcare.
· Inspire colleagues to improve standards and quality of care and to develop professional practice in the area of midwifery care.
· Play a key role in professional development through the identification of learning needs across the organisation, working closely with the Director of Midwifery, Head Midwife and Lead Midwife, link teachers and practice developmentteam.
· Work in partnership with the Head of Midwifery and Director of Midwifery, take forward and evaluate direction, policies andstrategies.
