About us
The above posts exist within the Vale of Glamorgan’s Neighbourhood Services and Transport Department which comprises interlinked service areas of Neighbourhood Services Operations, Engineering and Transport. All of these service areas feature large, high profile, front-line operations delivering various functions directly to citizens of, and visitors to, the Vale of Glamorgan.
The Engineering team are responsible for all aspects of the Vale’s local highway network, including Traffic & Road Safety functions enabling the Council to meet obligations in relation to the provision of traffic management and road safety services promptly and efficiently to members of the public and other organisations.
About the role
Pay Details: Grade 9 – SCP 31 – 35 (£40,476 - £44,711) p.a
Hours of Work/ working Pattern: 37 hours / 52 weeks
Main Place of Work: Alps Depot in Wenvoe
Description:-
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced and qualified Principal Highway Development Engineer within our Highway Development & Traffic Section.
The post holder will be expected to assist the Engineering Manager Highway Development and Traffic in delivery of a comprehensive range of professional and technical services in relation to highway development, ensuring compliance with all Legislation, Codes of Practice and Regulations.
About you
You will need:
Degree / Relevant professional qualification in work related subject.
A minimum of two years’ relevant experience.
Appropriate experience relevant to appointment dealing with highway development issues.
Knowledge of highway development procedures, S38 & S278 legal agreements processes and other relevant Legislation, Codes of Practice and Design Guidance relating to service area.
Computer literate, and able to use standard computer systems.
Ability to assist in prepare technical and other reports.
Ability to working a busy environment where priorities can change.
Well motivated, Flexible and a positive approach to work and ability to work as part of a team.
Able to work efficiently and on own initiative.
Good communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to drive/travel throughout the Vale or between locations as appropriate.
