About the Role

The Server Technician assists with the deployment, configuration, management, monitoring and security of physical and virtualised infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the managing of support, planned maintenance and systems administration tasks to customer requirements and service targets, in line with ITIL standards and procedures adopted by the Council. They will be expected to adhere to standards set for processes and policies for supporting core server technologies and ensure variations are reported to the Server Support Manager. They will also supervise external contractors where appropriate to undertake maintenance and installation tasks as agreed with the Server Support Manager.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

· Experience of infrastructure support and implementation with a working knowledge of Virtualisation Infrastructure. Knowledge of other technologies would be an advantage.

· Understanding of IT service management frameworks, such as ITIL.

· In-depth server skills with Windows environments and working knowledge of a variety of Windows operating systems.

· Ability to produce clear written and verbal communications and to update systems and databases accurately.

· Ability to enhance technical skills through self development and formal training courses.

· Ability to prioritise work and deliver results in a pressurised environment balancing conflicting demands to achieve acceptable outcomes.

This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English, is an essential requirement for the role.
