Crynodeb

Working as part of a small team, the primary purpose of this position is to provide stores handling and accounting services in support of the CHE vehicle storage facility located at RMB Chivenor. CHE facilities are an integral part of the whole fleet management process applied to all Royal Navy and Royal Marine vehicles. This process seeks to ensure that vehicles are retained in peak condition for use on Operations, whilst also aiming to improve the life expectancy of equipment by storing it in favourable environmental conditions when not in use. The CHE facility at RMB Chivenor has capacity to store several hundred assorted military vehicles and associated ancillary equipment. Responsive to the needs of the customer (Royal Marines and Royal Navy) whole fleet management is a cyclic process with regular receipts and issues of equipment to support the high tempo of military training and operational activity. Whole fleet management, as a process, continues to evolve; CHE staff, as an integral part of the process must be prepared to act responsively and to think inventively to further enhance the process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Purpose

To undertake practical stores handling and materiel accounting processes for equipment stored in CHE Storage, in support of 3 CDO Brigade operational capability. Maintain accurate records of all stored equipment and related issue/receipt transactions on MJDI stores accounting MIS.

Secondary Purposes

Routine checks of vehicle and equipment holdings to ensure accuracy of the account.
Assist with loading and unloading of low loaders, and movement of equipment and CES within the facility.
Act as AinU holder for allocated accounts (USA, miscellaneous stores, and ET accounts etc) controlling the secure storage, issue and receipt of allocated items.
Carryout independent checks of accounts when directed.
Assist with the Receipt and Issue process during equipment handover and takeover.
Any other appropriate duties as directed by the line manager in support of CHE team outputs.
Ensure the atmospheric conditions within the CHE facility are maintained at levels conducive to good CHE practices.

Additional Responsibilities:

Manage and archive accounting paperwork in accordance with extant MOD accounting policy.
Liaise with the CHE manager to maintain an effective system of managerial checks of CHE stores accounts.

The procedures laid down in the appropriate technical publication.
Safe working practices.
Safe environmental practices.
Use their technical skill/knowledge and judgement to highlight problems that they foresee to their superiors, and where applicable develop solutions, including researching and submission in accordance with the GEMS Scheme.
Ensure all activities within the CHE facility comply with workplace legislation, regulations, and Safe Systems of Work.
Ensure that only authorised personnel gain access to CHE facilities and that they are briefed in accordance with the 4Cs (Co-ordination, Co-operation, Communication and Control) principles.
Undertake accurate maintenance of personal MYHR records and conduct mandatory training to ensure SQEP for role as a civil servant.
