The Role
Are you looking for an opportunity to further develop your project and programme management skills, and be involved in delivering transformation with customers at the heart? Bolton Council is going through an exciting and unprecedented period of change over the next few years, and we’re looking for a talented and experienced individual to help us achieve our ambitions.
The Change Manager role offers a rare development opportunity, with the successful applicant playing a key part in driving and delivering strategic change activity across the council. This will include developing and implementing of our Future Council (Target Operating) Model, whilst completing a Level 6 Service Design apprenticeship. This apprenticeship will support the postholder to progress through the career grade. It offers an excellent opportunity to someone who is looking to solidify their project management experience and knowledge with a formal qualification and progress their career by giving them the tools to deliver change effectively.
This is a very varied and challenging role, and requires a systems thinking approach. It is essential that applicants have experience of delivering change projects centred around the people using the services. You’ll be part of a small, friendly team, taking a lead on specific change priorities and will be lots of opportunities to influence and help shape what we do and how we do it.
About You
The successful candidate will have experience of delivering change projects, or good knowledge of change approaches and experience of shaping organisational change. You must demonstrate a track record of managing multiple, fast-paced and complex pieces of work simultaneously, and will complete an apprenticeship that includes coursework and participation in learning modules. An ability to think strategically and join up activities across services and directorates is essential.
You need to be comfortable working with colleagues and partners at all levels, as well as elected members, and you must have strong leadership and influencing skills.
Applicants must be able to commit to an 18-24 month apprenticeship online, and completion of this apprenticeship is a requirement of progression through the career grade. You thereforemust notalready hold a Service Designer/Improvement/Change related qualification (or similar) at degree level (Level 6) or above. The successful candidate will have 20% of their time allocated to study and complete course-related work. Please see the person specification for minimum qualification requirements to access this apprenticeship.
For an informal chat about the role, please contact Nicky Connell on 07392108213.
To apply, please submit your CV and a covering letter of no more than 3 pages, setting out evidence of your relevant knowledge and experience as indicated in the person specification, and how you would manage the demands of the role alongside an apprenticeship.
Please note, this role requires experience of delivering organisational change and is therefore not suitable for entry-level applicants.
