The Mortuary is a specialty within Cellular Pathology. We care for patients who have died within the Leicester hospitals and the surrounding community. We provide a comprehensive range of services that includes Coronal, Forensic and Paediatric post-mortems and in recent years have developed and launched a Computerised Tomography Post Mortem (PMCT) service.
As an Assistant Technical Officer in the Mortuary Service you will be required to carry out a wide range of tasks related to mortuary service work. Working in the departments patient reception areas / fridge rooms, your main duties will be receiving and releasing deceased patients from our care, completion of all paperwork associated with patient care and provision of a vital Front of House service i.e. dealing with telephone and email enquiries and welcoming visitors to the department in an appropriate manner.
Full training will be given but demonstrable experience of working in a mortuary or allied profession and all aspects of patient care including the use of specialist equipment and supporting the bereaved would be an advantage. In addition candidates will have an empathetic, caring and helpful manner, excellent attention to detail and communication skills and a thorough understanding of the importance of good customer service in this unique area of healthcare.
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
