Are you committed to developing person-centred practice and passionate about supporting families and pupils with additional learning needs (ALN). We are seeking an experienced and empathetic Family and IDP Co-ordinator to join our team, working across a range of special schools within our federation. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping inclusive, person-centred approaches and building strong, collaborative relationships with families.
About the Role:
As our Family and IDP Co-ordinator, you will:
• Lead the development and implementation of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) across the special school’s federation, ensuring a person-centred approach that places pupils and their families at the heart of the process.
• Act as a key point of contact for families, providing guidance, support, and information to help them navigate the ALN provision and access appropriate resources.
• Facilitate person-centred meetings, working closely with pupils, families, and school staff to ensure that IDPs reflect the unique needs, aspirations, and strengths of each pupil.
• Provide training and support to staff across the federation on person-centred practices, helping to build capacity and consistency in IDP development.
• Collaborate with local authorities, health professionals, and other external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to meeting the needs of pupils with ALN.
• Monitor and review the effectiveness of IDPs, gathering feedback from pupils, families, and staff to continually improve the process and outcomes.
• Support the transition of pupils between educational phases (e.g., primary to secondary, school to post-16 settings), ensuring a smooth and supportive experience for both pupils and families.
About You:
We are looking for someone who:
• Has significant experience working with families and pupils with additional learning needs, ideally within a special school or inclusive education setting.
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Act 2018 and the principles of person-centred planning.
• Is an excellent communicator, capable of building trust and strong relationships with pupils, families, and staff.
• Is skilled in facilitating person-centred meetings and is confident in creating and reviewing effective IDPs.
• Is adaptable, resourceful, and able to work across multiple school sites within the federation.
• Is empathetic, patient, and dedicated to promoting the voice and choice of pupils in their education.
