ROLE PURPOSE / SUMMARY The Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System will comprise the Integrated Care Board (ICB), which is the statutory body for the NHS, and the Integrated Care Partnership (ICP), which is a committee of the ICB, and brings together key health, care, community, and voluntary sector organisations across the area. The ICS has a bold ambition to deliver improved outcomes for our 1.2m population through our four Alliances, and we are placing clinical and professional leadership and the voice of our residents at the heart of realizing this ambition. The Quality Support Nurse Manager will be integral to supporting the delivery of the core purpose of the Nursing and Quality Directorate, to improve outcomes by promoting adherence to clinical policies, procedures and standards thus enabling services to operate in a safe and effective way. The role will contribute towards providing the Integrated Care Board with assurance of providers continuing commitment to a credible and focused quality strategy. The postholder will be expected to promote a culture of professional standards and service delivery that enhances and maximises safe outcomes for all residents through assurance and effective quality systems, and to share improvements and learning. They will contribute towards the management of relationships and the systems dealings with CQC (and other regulators) to help secure positive results from inspections. They will support the delivery and effective oversight of clinical services within their respective portfolios, and provide assurance in relation to safe, effective, evidence based and compassionate care. In addition to influencing, coaching and challenging areas of concern thus ensuring high standards of care are achieved for our local population. COMPETENCY BASED KEY DELIVERABLES Responsible for decisions made during the course of duties, seeking guidance and escalating issues where appropriate Contribute to the delivery of one or more strategic plans, enabling key milestones to be delivered and raising any issues associated with the delivery of plans and workstreams. Management of a small team Responsible for one or more budgets and/or income streams of delivery Can demonstrate and deliver business acumen in their area of responsibility ensuring value for money, understanding the business of partners and the driving factors for delivery in multiple sectors Support the development of effective commissioning systems and subsequent organisational learning in respect of clinical effectiveness, quality assurance, quality development and patient safety and experience in collaboration with providers. Enhance the performance and monitoring of quality, and readiness for regulatory inspection via provider assurance visits Participate towards the management and learning from serious incidents in accordance with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework. Provide specialist advice and support in terms of monitoring the quality of service provision, patient safety and patient experience across all aligned contracts which include acute, ambulance, community based and independent services Ensure quality and clinical governance issues are integral to the managed contractual arrangements of those who deliver care to patients Contribute to Mid and South Essex strategic planning and policies, ensuring clinical governance and continuing quality improvement remains integral to the process Maintain awareness of national trends and evidence-based practice and apply to role. Attend networks and link with clinical governance leads in the local health economy and regionally as to enable a learning environment, and to assist the spread of good practice. This will incorporate Cancer Quality Forums and oversight of the referral to treatment time harm reviews, and Cancer harm reviews. Horizon scan for issues which could impact on the patient safety and quality agenda.
