Interim Building Control Surveyor (Class 2 B-F )

Pay Rate: £45.00 per hour PAYE

37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours

This opening assignment is for 2-3 months

City: SOUTH MOLTON

Must be Registered inspector that is a Class 2 to B-F

Must have Planning Experience

The candidate will need to be flexible to attend site visits and be local. As and when required , they will manage their own workloads, this will be a work from home role, but candidate will need to be flexible. Need access to their own vehicle.

Work with the Senior Building Control Surveyors in delivering the Building Control Service in a competitive and commercial environment.

Key responsibilities:

Determine Full Plans Notifications and issue decision notices
Processing of Building Regulation notifications including the provision of pre-application advice
The inspection and certification of building work
Be responsible for ensuring effective enforcement where the Building Regulations have been contravened.
Respond to notifications of dangerous structures and recommend appropriate action to the Building Control Manager
Manage workload to meet statutory time limits, performance standards and service level agreements.
Be responsible for managing customer relationships, providing professional customer oriented service and promoting the Building Control Service at all times
Advise officers of other units and Members by providing specialist advice on the Building Act, Building Regulations and construction related matters including disabled access, sustainability and means of escape in case of fire
Work as part of a team ensuring that fluctuations in workload are met and by covering for other surveyors in their absence
Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Building Control Manager

Key requirements:

Minimum level of qualification is to have successfully completed a Building related course of study such as NVQ level 4 or HNC. A degree level qualification in construction related studies would be desirable and registration with an appropriate professional body (CABE, RICS, CIOB) at Technician or Associate level
Full Driving Licence
Has an understanding of the Building Regulations and their application
Experience working in a building related discipline for a minimum of 2 years
Good level of IT skills and knowledge of the practical application of IT systems and the use of Microsoft Office
Excellent customer service skills
Is able to express themselves clearly in verbal and written form
Able to communicate technical information in a clear concise manner to both building professionals and householders
Physically fit, able to climb ladders, walk scaffolds, access foundations and inspect buildings
