The successful applicant will be expected to: Provide daily assessment and management of ICU/HDU patients as directed by the senior clinical team. Performing invasive procedures, including arterial lines, central venous catheters, chest drains and lumbar punctures, all under supervision until competent. Attending cardiac arrest, emergency & trauma calls. Reviewing critical care referrals from the emergency department, theatres and wards, and liaising with admitting team. Learning, developing and applying ultrasound skills in critical care. BNHH has 18 critical care beds and receives over 1,000 critical care admissions each year. We routinely manage complex surgical patients, as the hospital is a tertiary referral centre for peritoneal malignancy surgery and resectional hepatobiliary work. We also manage complex cardiology patients, as the hospital is the Trust hub for cardiology, with a 24/7 PPCI service. The Trust is keen to attract the highest calibre of trainee doctors. It realises that to maintain that aim for the future the quality of teaching and training must be of the highest order. Consultant staff are responsible for the training and supervision of all junior medical staff and time is expected to be regularly allocated to their teaching.
