Fawkes & Reece are proud to be partnered with a market leading Regional Main Contractor recruiting for a driven and ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team. You will be joining a "SUNDAY TIMES: Best Places To Work" award winning business working on new build care homes, retirement living and residential projects in the Middlesbrough/Durham area.

The role of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor

My client is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their established team in their Northern Region. You will be joining a team that really makes a difference and gives you the opportunity to develop your skills towards a truly rewarding career in construction commercial management.

You will be reporting to the commercial lead on the project and play a vital role in delivering value, controlling costs and supporting the successful completion of the project.

Responsibilities of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor

  • Assisting in preparing budgets, cost plans and valuations
  • Conducting site visits to monitor progress and assess variations
  • Working closely with operations, design and health and safety teams towards key project targets
  • Establishing and developing productive and professional working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Supporting the monitoring of cost control and implement cost mitigation strategies, assessing risk, at all times acting fairly and reasonably
  • Contributing data to assist with the production of a monthly commercial report, fully describing the position and plan for management of risk, opportunity, cost and value for those sub-contracts delegated to you to manage
  • supporting to ensure timely agreement of final accounts with your supply chain packages

Requirements of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor

  • Relevant degree or construction related qualifications.
  • Superb organisation skills, including time management, prioritisation of tasks and self-motivation.
  • Excellent communication, bring your excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A team player.
  • Detail oriented, you'll need to have a keen eye for detail and a passion for quality.
