About the role

As a music tutor you will teach your instrumental skills in a wide variety of schools and other services and organisations across Rochdale and support the children you teach and the music service to deliver varied concerts and performance opportunities across the school year. You will also be supporting schools to meet the national curriculum and national plan for music requirements. Inclusion is important to us and we value the wider benefits of music that go beyond grade standards and expect our tutors to do the same.

Previous candidates need not apply.

About you

We are looking for musicians who can perform to a high standard and be equally passionate about teaching children and young people of all ages and abilities to play music and achieve their potential, including those with disabilities. You may also be asked to teach adults. We are looking for flexibility and commitment from our staff team and a willingness to work with others. Given the peripatetic role, we require you to be an effective communicator with both your students and also the service managers. You will be required to work outside of office hours

About us

We are a friendly service and will provide you with the support you need to carry out your role successfully and help you to develop your skills. We are growing and after an initial start you can be funded to grow your hours with us should you want this. As a Rochdale Borough Council employee you will receive pension contributions and holiday pay.

To apply please demonstrate how you meet the essential requirements of the person specification.

The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects staff to share this commitment.

Appointment to this post is subject to a DBS.
