Crynodeb

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army.

The role is part of the Army Safety Investigation Team (ASIT), part of the Army Safety Groups Safety Centre. You will be based in Brecon, reporting directly to the ASIT Command Group within Army Head Quarters. As an ASIT Investigator you will be part of a 10-person team that provides the Army with an independent Force Protection (SHEF) investigation capability.
As an ASIT Investigator you will work with the ASIT Team Leader supporting the Assistant Head Army Safety and the Command Environment and Safety Officer in their role as the Army Competent Authority and Inspector (ACA&I) supporting the delivery of the Army’s operational capability. You will be working at reach for the Army Safety Group – Safety Centre supporting the operational capability of the Army through the medium of Force Protection (Safety, Health, Environmental Protection and Fire Safety Management (SHEF)).

As an ASIT Investigator you will conduct thorough, independent investigations and provide reports that identify genuine causation of the occurrence which underpins learning within the Army. Investigation reports will use evidence-based information to define what happened, why it happened and provide recommendations that will prevent re occurrences through Organisational learning. This is an empowered position in a proactive and progressive organisation. The post holder will be required to have a sound knowledge of Health Safety & Environmental Protection Law whilst understanding how the delivery of Duty of Care responsibilities is applied within the Force Protection approach described in the Army’s Safety and Environmental Management System.
