About the Role
The Business Analyst supports the Senior Business Analysts and Business Architects in providing an integrated view of the organisation using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and available industry standard techniques, building a bridge between the strategic plan of the business and the actual day-to-day function of the business.
The Business Analyst will lead on providing business analysis and architectural support to low/medium complexity change activities and will be responsible for maintaining clearly defined architectural artefacts based on business areas and or architectural artefacts such as business objects, organisational structure etc. The Business Analyst may also be required to support high complexity change initiatives under the supervision of the Senior Business Analysts and or Business Architects.
The Business Analyst will support low/medium complexity change management activities including the development of problem statements, undertaking root cause analysis, developing current and future state views, and undertaking impact and gap analysis. They will work closely with their counterparts within technology and data architecture to ensure alignment in approaches and outputs.
The Business Analyst must have a good understanding of the business and how it operates. They will also have an awareness of architecture frameworks (such as TOGAF) and the relationships between artefacts. They will regularly work with the BizzDesign artefact repository and use ArchiMate architecture notation, as well as support the upkeep of the DIO Process Repository. They will understand the business architecture design process and play a key role in the performance of that process by supporting the Senior Business Analysts and or Business Architects.
The Business Analyst will support the planning, administration and running of events and workshops using existing skill sets in stakeholder management, requirement elicitation and business modelling and will also work with the Senior Business Analysts and/or Business Architects to synthesise the outputs following stakeholder engagement events.
At this level, you will be expected to: identify and manage stakeholder relationships; work independently; have a good understanding of your own work area; advance the Business Analyst community through the sharing of best practice and mentoring others.
The key activities that will help the business:
analyse and understand a business problem or opportunity
undertake research and analysis to understand how a business or business area works, considering the people, organisation, processes, information, data and technology
identify areas for improvement, explore feasible options, analyse the effects of change and define success measures
