Summary


This role will be at band 6 while training and move to band 7 only when all competences are completed and signed off .

The Advanced Practitioner will work within the MRI team taking a flexible approach to rosters and management of the service, including cross-site working as demanded by the service.

They will be an advocate for multidisciplinary and interdepartmental cooperation to promote best possible patient pathway and care.

Lead new practice and redesign utilising evidenced based data and analysis and develop effective relationships to manage service demand and technological advances. Robust governance and procedural documentation to be developed.

The post holder must be able to work autonomously in their field incorporating complex informed decision making whilst at the same time aware of their own limitations and when consultant input is required. They will engage in self-directed learning as required and motivate a culture of team learning and professional development throughout the department to deliver training in their specialist field offering support to junior staff medical and non-medical.

The post holder will have highly developed specialist knowledge to Masters Level or equivalent supported by extensive practical MRI radiographic experience and is expected to undertake Research and Development activities, audits and clinical trials analysing complex facts and data to inform service improvement.

CLINICAL

Provide clinical expertise by demonstrating appropriate expert practice and specialist advice in the specific area of their MRI knowledge and reporting as applies to own qualification. This will demand high levels of autonomy and advocacy

RESEARCH / AUDIT / SERVICE REVIEW AND EVALUATION

Lead and participate in audit and research and benchmarking activities to ensure effective safe and evidence based practice is delivered with high standard of patient care.

EDUCATION
1. Continue to develop specialist knowledge underpinned by experience and analysis of evidence and information gained from seminars and study days

COMMUNICATION/NETWORKING
1. Advocate and role model Trust values and behaviours with particular attention to patient care including privacy and dignity
2. Instigate and participate in peer review and audit of own and colleague’s work

PROFESSIONAL

1. Maintain Registration with HCPC and comply with codes of conduct

2. Professional Indemnity Insurance is mandatory – this can be obtained via Society of Radiographers (SCOR) , RCN or a private insurer

MANAGEMENT
1. Assist the Modality Manager and Specialty General Manager with the operational management and workload/workflow of the specialist area
2. Support quality control of workload acquisition and reporting. Implement educational support where gaps are identified to ensure competency in all radiographic skill sets

• Work at a high level of autonomous MRI expertise and be able to work within scope of practice
• Identify, clear and scan patients with MRI conditional implanted Cardiac devices
• Promote collaboration and liaise with referring clinicians
• To work effectively across departments(Cardiology and Radiology)
• Make clinical decisions to advise further investigations and onward treatment
• Able to prioritise and manage workload effectively and deal with urgent issues as they arise
• Provide training and education in a range of subjects
• Able to deliver core and expanded skills
• Able to participate in cardiac MRI reporting and some clinical front line shifts to include cover for public holidays
• Able to demonstrate flexibility in working patterns and practices
