Crynodeb

An opportunity has arisen to join the Power and Hydro team in Fort William. The purpose of this role is to provide a daily record and report of dam levels and water readings to the Hydro Mechanical Engineer. In addition the role will involve a significant amount of general maintenance.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Record And Report/update all Dam Levels, Water Readings to Hydro Mechanical Engineer – Daily.
  • Carry out regular safety inspection on intakes security fencing signage etc across the schemes and action critical repairs on a timely manner.
  • Hydro Scheme Maintenance including but not limited to
  • Clean Intakes regularly.
  • Clean Screens across the Lochaber and Spey schemes.
  • Support regulatory checks & inspections
  • General Hydro Scheme Maintenance
  • Road Maintenance.
  • Grass and Scrub management around Dams and Intakes.
  • Tree Cutting
  • Fencing
  • Winter Maintenance – Plough and Grit Access Roads paths etc.
  • Supervision and assist contractors working on the hydro schemes
  • Condition inspections of the assets
  • Valve operation – pipeline filling, emptying, maintenance, scouring
  • Photography and IT skills (basic)
  • Isolation of Hydro Scheme & power station infrastructure (to level of IO training)
  • Support the Lochaber Hydro Operators where required.
  • Support estates maintenance where agreed with the Mechanical Engineer.
  • Other duties as instructed to support the hydro scheme, Smelter & estates.
