Summary


GatewayC is an online platform which delivers high quality resources support GPs and other primary care professionals in the early diagnosis of cancer. We are looking for an ambitious Marketing Assistant to support our marketing activities for GatewayC.



You’ll be working as part of a friendly, motivated, and ambitious team. We have some exciting projects on the horizon which you’ll have the opportunity to be involved with and bring new ideas to the team We work on promoting courses, podcasts, videos and awareness campaigns to a range of primary care professionals. We work closely with partners, clinicians and charities to ensure that we’re creating engaging and accurate content.

We’re looking for someone with creative copywriting skills and imaginative use of social media. We would like someone who is keen to develop comms with impact.

You will have an ability to think creatively and follow direction, but also able to work independently, prioritising your workload.

We will expect you will have some understanding and experience of social media and other marketing techniques. You will have the opportunity to work as a member of a wide-ranging team which will include GPs, clinicians, charity leads, practice managers, educational experts and technical educators.

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.

We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years.

We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year. Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Marketing
• Work under the direction of the Marketing Manager in delivering the marketing strategy for GatewayC
• Provide editing support, such as proof reading, for internal, external and digital publications and website
• Conduct social marketing campaigns across a number of platforms
• Be the first point of contact in respect of the commercialisation of GatewayC, redirecting calls and correspondence as appropriate
• Draft basic communication materials, maintaining corporate identity and style, primarily for use on e-communication platforms, including writing website and social media content on non-sensitive issues for approval
• Provide some initial research of our GatewayC audience
• Assist the graphic designer in creating promotional materials, including brochures, blogs, marketing copy, etc.
• Help with presentations by assembling videos, slideshows and analyses of competitors
• Support the digital manager as appropriate with website maintenance and administration.
• Generating, downloading, collating and archiving reports



Record keeping
• Maintain records to ensure that marketing activity is managed effectively and analysed appropriately
• To update, input and maintain relevant databases to support events, marketing and communications activities, including distribution lists, to ensure that work to support brand and reputation reaches stakeholders promptly and effectively.
• Input data and maintain accurate records in relation to raising invoices, credit card payments and cheques
• Use of electronic procurement systems



Communication
• To be the first point of contact (telephone, direct and written) within the team. Responding to enquiries from colleagues and external organisations, in a professional, timely and customer-focussed manner
• Escalate issues or concerns as appropriate
• Attend and contribute to team and programme meetings for the purpose of reviewing marketing activity and sharing general information
• Frequent phone, face to face and email communication is required to liaise with stakeholders
• Be a representative for The Christie School of Oncology maintaining high quality standards and customer service



General
• Communicate with colleagues in a clear concise manner
• Attend meetings and follow up on action points
• To include other identified administrative duties commensurate with level of post
