This role is a twelve-month fixed-term position to cover maternity leave, with the potential to extend, depending on service requirements.

The Business Development Team are a small but dynamic team who are the front door for customers and provides a broad range of services including triaging and resolving customer enquiries, supporting our online shop and sales management systems, updating social media, hosting events and account and billing queries. The team are close-knit and works collaboratively to ensure that Service Levels are met and a high level of customer service is provided.
About the role
The primary purpose of this role is to drive revenue by selling traded services to schools and other customers, generating an income of approximately £7 million.
This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the council’s products and services. The successful candidate will develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and service areas to ensure seamless service delivery and to enhance customer engagement and sales. The role also involves reviewing Commercial Transfer Agreements for schools transitioning to academy status and providing support to service areas and customers to address and improve service delivery issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sell traded services and commercial products to schools and other customers.
- Generate and maintain new income streams for the council.
- Develop and nurture relationships with customers and service areas.
- Ensure smooth service delivery and increase customer purchases.
- Review Commercial Transfer Agreements for academising schools.
- Support service areas and customers with service delivery and improvement issues.
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements*.

About you
You have a strong background in sales and customer relationship management, with the ability to understand and promote a diverse range of products and services. You are resilient and able to react quickly to change, managing customer expectations whilst delivering high-quality customer service. You are a team player who loves to get stuck in. You are educated to GCSE/NVQ3 level or equivalent, including English & Maths. You possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, and are adept at problem-solving and improving service delivery processes.
