This is an exciting opportunity to join a London Major Trauma Centre in the Emergency Department (ED) reception team.

This role is for a Receptionist working 22.5 hrs per week with the need for flexibility to cover other shifts.

Please note that this role works in shift patterns, covering 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including bank holidays.

The main duties of the post are the registration of patients attending the ED, processing the administration of patients, dealing with a variety of enquiries made in person or by telephone and the provision of a courteous and efficient reception service.

You will need to be able to work flexibly and be able to prioritise your workload in what can be a pressurised and changing environment. You should be self motivated, have excellent communication/interpersonal skills and have the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a very busy team where the work is deadline driven.

The successful candidate will need an excellent telephone manner and must be able to deal efficiently with members of the public and all disciplines of hospital staff. Previous receptionist experience and keyboard skills would be an advantage.

The Emergency Department plays a major role in St George’s new designation as one of four Major Trauma Centre’s in London. In addition to receiving increasing number of trauma patients the department sees over 160,000 new attendances a year. We have a dedicated Paediatric Emergency Department and Extended Emergency Care Unit (EECU).
