Crynodeb

The Environment Agency are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We don’t just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it, and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities, and our environment.

Do you want to be at the heart of a major programme to protect the environment by driving Water Companies performance to ensure compliance with environmental permit requirements?
We are looking for a flow improvement planning advisor to join our team of flow specialists within the Environment and Business Directorate. You will work with specific Water Companies to drive discussions to achieve 100% flow compliance with existing and future permit requirements.

In this role you’ll be responsible for:
- Working with colleagues to deliver flow compliance and planning advice for the business
- Leading the development of a flow improvement plan for individual Water Companies, following a nationally consistent approach
- Engaging across the business to deliver a joined-up approach to flow planning and compliance delivery at individual sites
- Working with Water Companies to ensure they deliver any required improvements to agreed timescales to deliver long-term solutions
- Ensure flow compliance planning is joined up with other organisational priorities and initiatives

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
You’ll join the Compliance, Incidents and Environment team, in the E&B Water Department. The team works on many issues across Water Quality and Water Company compliance, incidents and enforcement. You will be focussing on Water Company wastewater flow compliance work.
We’re a dispersed team and work with a wide range of technical and project teams across the country.
Experience/skills required
We are looking for people with experience of flow compliance and/or water quality planning to be able to support our on-going work programme. Applicants should have knowledge and experience of Water Industry regulation, particularly the operation and monitoring of flows at wastewater treatment works and storm overflows.

In your capability-based answers please demonstrate your:

• ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues in their work.
• knowledge of water company regulation, especially flow compliance
• knowledge of Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR); regulation, compliance and enforcement in relation to the Water Industry
• ability to manage your own workload and prioritise conflicting demands
• excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided.
