Oldham Total Care (OTC) are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and dynamic band 7 equivalent Unit Manager to support the leadership team in the management of our specialist Dementia Nursing Care unit.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the staff and residents within the unit. Ensuring the delivery of high quality, safe, person-centred care which is implemented and reviewed as appropriate for the individual. The role includes some budget management, day to day HR management of staff including recruitment and performance management and ensuring quality standards are met in terms of resident care and taking the lead for quality initiatives and research.

You will work closely with the Registered Home Manager and Quality Matron, and will have good access to training and development opportunities.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Unit Manager to oversee the operations of our care facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a team of caregivers and ensuring the highest standards of care for our residents. The Unit Manager will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Oldham Total Care is a large nursing and care home in Chadderton, Oldham. Our dementia nursing unit, Saddleworth, has a capacity of 27. We support people with complex needs associated with dementia presentations. A nurse-led unit, Saddleworth is part of the wider home, with regular input from a local GP practice. Our residents display complex behaviours, and our aim is to ensure their quality of life is maintained in a safe and supportive environment.

We are looking for a senior practitioner with extensive experience in the field of dementia care and/or mental health. Being a registered mental health nurse is an advantage, but we would welcome applications from those with evidence of experience and a willingness to consider post-graduate training in this specialism.

Responsibilities

Supervise and support staff in delivering exceptional care to residents, including those with dementia and other health conditions.
Manage daily operations within the unit, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
Conduct regular assessments of resident needs and develop individualised care plans.
Maintain accurate records of resident care and staff performance, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Foster a positive environment that encourages teamwork and high-quality service delivery.
Skills

Proven experience in supervising staff within a healthcare or residential setting.
Strong knowledge of dementia care practices and assisted living protocols.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Compassionate approach towards caregiving with a strong commitment to enhancing resident wellbeing.
