Summary
Sub-Contractor SupervisorJob purpose
The Sub-Contractors Supervisor will be responsible for the safe management of planned and reactive mechanical, buildings and civils maintenance and minor project works delivered through sub-contractors by Mitie at NRS (Nuclear Restorations Services) Hunterston. This includes reviewing Safe Systems of Work (SSoWs (Safe System of Work)) issued by sub-contractors for both projects and day to day maintenance works, identifying them as suitable and sufficient or providing feedback to contractors on how they need to be improved.
The Sub-Contractor Supervisor is responsible for scheduling sub-contractor visits, including visitor bookings, arranging, or providing supervision where required by NRS security or works control protocols and arranging access to secure facilities where required. They will ensure all contractors are signed up to Safe Systems of Work (SSoWs) including client works control documentation and individual facilities' SSoWs where required.
The Sub-Contractors Supervisor will ensure all project works are planned in a professional manner, projects plan submitted, CDM regulations compliance where they apply, security clearances and site passes arranged where needed and compliance with all NRS security and Works Control procedures.
All works will be managed to comply with Mitie and NRS health and safety requirements, including full and compliant completion of all related documentation such as pre/post job briefs, works control documentation, Safe Systems of Work (SSoWs) Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and prompt and accurate reporting of any incident, accident or near miss.
The Sub-Contractor Supervisor will be responsible for monitoring and controlling all change during the planned, reactive or project works lifecycle, including suspension of work pending client approval of any change in scope, spec, or price.
Responsibilities
-Facilitating the appointment of Contractors
-Agreeing basic scopes of work
-Issue Requests for Survey and Quotation to the shortlisted sub-contractors
-Raise and issue quotes to client
-Ensuring Purchase orders and Subcontract orders are completed and issued to contractors
-Agreeing programmes of work with the sub-contractor(s)
-Booking contractors on site and facilitating Security Clearance as required
-Ensuring all Subcontractors Planned Maintenance and Reactive works are completed by due dates
-Evaluation on behalf of Mitie of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) covering supply chain delivered works
-Providing subcontractor's RAMS to client representatives prior to works commencement
-Ensuring all subcontract works are properly permissioned by client Task Supervisor as required by Magnox works control process.
-Ensure all subcontract labour resources and any Mitie supervisory resource, are fully briefed in and work in accordance with Magnox's works control regime at all times.
-Managing the delivery of the subcontract works to the agreed level of quality, programme, and budget.
-Undertake spot checks on sub-contractors and their works on site.
-Managing risks to the works or projects successful outcome
-Reporting to the finance function on works/ projects completion and supplier payments due/ withheld.
-Providing aftercare service to the customer
-Upon agreement, you may be required to be an AP (Approved Persons)
-Any other duties relevant to the role
Knowledge skills & experience
-Ideally from a construction or maintenance works background you will be experienced in providing services within a team of technical managers surveyors and possess a good team player ethos
-Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role / HNC or technical qualification equivalent
-Be IT literate with an exceptionally good understanding of Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
-Use of a CAFM / CEMAR for planning / recording works
-Strong health and safety knowledge - IOSH Managing Safely as a minimum, NEBOSH desirable
-Awareness of potential environmental impacts arising from maintenance and projects works and understanding of importance of minimising harm.
-Previous experience in managing Subcontract works
-Understanding of principles of commercial M&E (Mechanical & Electrical), civils, building fabric maintenance and construction works.
-Ability to draft and review suitable and sufficient RAMS to allow works to be completed in a safe manner.
-Full driving license
