Sunderland City Council is seeking to recruit a Media Relations Officer (maternity cover for up to 12 months) to help drive forward media relations and PR activity linked to the cityandrsquo;s ambitions to become a dynamic, healthy and vibrant place to live work and play.andnbsp;



This is an exciting opportunity to be a key part of the City Councilandrsquo;s Strategy and Corporate Affairs team at a time when there is so much going on in the city. Your role will involve supporting the development and delivery of communications campaigns showcasing the work of the council and the vital services it provides to our local communities.andnbsp;



The role will involve planning, writing and leading on the production of the City Councilandrsquo;s residentsandrsquo; newsletter. You will also support media relations and PR around the councilandrsquo;s growing events programme, services to residents and work with partners on showcasing all the city has to offer.



You will work within the wider corporate affairs team and alongside colleagues in other teams across the council, businesses, partners and suppliers such as design agencies and PR consultancies to protect and enhance the councilandrsquo;s reputation with the media and key stakeholders.



You will have a good understanding of the media, communications and marketing landscape, particularly in terms of digital channels and content. You will also have a proven track record of working in a communications function and experience of developing and delivering engaging media relations and PR activity.



You will be organised, with the ability to meet deadlines and work across different projects at any one time. You will be adept at filtering complex operational information into relevant and engaging content for a range of audiences including the media and residents. Ideally you will also be a creative thinker keen to work across a large and dynamic organisation as it aims to deliver an ambitious City Plan and grow its reputation.
