The Audit Clinical Support Lead (CSL) is required to assist and support the performance of employed Health Professionals who undertake PIP clinical audit. Audit CSLs ensure professional standards are maintained in all clinical work within PIP by providing training, clinical support, feedback, advice to all audit capable staff.

They monitor the clinical performance of auditors to ensure professional standards and quality of service levels are delivered and maintained, so by assisting with performance indicators being consistent with contract needs. They also manage the lot wide audit sample from a clinical perspective, challenging grades where and when appropriate.

This essential role will continuously improve the delivery of our services to the most vulnerable in society as part of the HAAS, delivering disability assessment services on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions

Reporting to the PIP Head of Clinical Assurance and Improvement your key accountabilities will include:


- To provide clinical advice and carry out disability assessments.
- To be responsible jointly to Clinical and Service Delivery Management, for the delivery of service and achievement of performance targets.
- To provide clinical input into the appraisal cycle for auditors.
- To provide support and leadership in the delivery of change programmes, proactively leading the audit team through the change process.
- To ensure that clinical governance and standards required by the GMC, NMC and HCPC are maintained.
- Proficient in audit with an ability to analyse complex cases, identify the issues and provide pragmatic, effective, and efficient advice on amendments that are required.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills, along with excellent negotiation skills, with experience in providing guidance and support to other health professionals to improve their practice.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with the customer.
- An ability to respond to a rapidly changing work environment, demonstrating a positive attitude and approach to dealing with change, especially at short notice.
- Evidence of versatility and being able to respond to unexpected changes by adopting a flexible approach to work, multi-tasking and being able to prioritise workload effectively.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude in relation to audit and be a role model for HPs and auditors, with regards to good practices and behaviour.
- Ability to recognise themes and trends and interpret clinical data to assist in ensuring quality is maintained in line with SLA1 target.
- Ensure that professional practice standards are maintained in all areas of work, in line with current guidelines and best practice guidance.



What you will need to do the role:

- HP (Doctor, Nurse, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Paramedic) with a minimum of two years post registration experience.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Approved and proficient in either PA3 or PA4 audit.
- Previous experience as an Audit CSL as well as managing, coaching and mentoring teams.
- Previous experience of training delivery.
