Job Title: Software Engineer

Location: Wokingham, hybrid. 3 days on site, 2 from home.

Contract Type: 6 months, Umbrella, inside IR35

Rate: £65 per hour

Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will provide customer support services on digital solutions. In this role, you'll enhance software products, troubleshoot issues, and maintain the deployment pipeline with a focus on quality and automation. You'll act as a technical expert, offering guidance to customers on digital solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

Collaborate with customers to gather information, investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex issues.

Support incoming tickets across various product modules, troubleshooting issues across configurations, user interface, network, connectivity, and performance.

Develop fixes and enhancements in collaboration with other teams.

Review and understand complex application code, suggesting fixes to resolve issues.

Oversee deployment activities, orchestrating the deployment process across environments until production.

Provide 24/7 emergency support when required.

Facilitate relationships between customers and third-party vendors.

Travel to customer sites within the region at least three times per week.

Required Qualifications

Experience: Software engineering experience in real-time systems like SCADA and Energy Management Systems (EMS).

Security Clearance: Eligible for UK SC Clearance or already cleared.

Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of C/C++, Java, SQL, Shell scripting, Kubernetes, and proficiency in reading/debugging logs.

Architecture: Expertise in microservices and tools.

Operating Systems: Red Hat and Oracle experience.

Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.

DevOps Tools: Experience with Jenkins, GITHUB, Clear Case, SVN.
