A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Security Officer for the educational sector, who will demonstrate and deliver high quality guarding and customer service to both our clients and service users throughout the Harrow Complex at the University of Westminster.
The Security Officer will need to control the safe access/egress to designated venues in line with current procedures and client requirements, to maintain good order and public safety at client’s premises, to take all reasonable and required measures to protect the Clients property, staff and visitors.

Requirements
SIA Door Supervisor Licence required
Security Experience is required – ideally in the educational sector
Excellent communication both written & verbal
Excellent levels of customer service and English language at all times
IT skills required – word, excel, office
This position involves internal and external patrolling throughout the shift
Able to demonstrate and deliver high quality guarding and customer service to both our clients and service users
Reliable, Responsible and Punctual
The ability to be pro-active and think on your feet use initiative
To have a smart appearance befitting the company
Flexible in the approach to daily duties and additional events when held on site
Be confident and can undertake 100% of all specific duties
Be able to provide all the documentation and vetting information requested
Job Role
Be able to provide a flexible service, working as necessary to meet the needs of the Halls of Residence.
Provide outstanding proactive customer care at all times, ensuring a courteous and helpful service to residents, all site visitors and University staff.
Ensure that the reception area is clean and tidy at all times and presented to a high standard.
Signing in of Contractors ensuring all access approvals forms have been received and permits to work are in place for works to commence.
Deal with or divert telephone enquiries as appropriate, e.g. answering calls in the absence of colleagues, and taking and relaying messages as appropriate.
Deal with requests for information and keys, fault reports and complaints, referring more difficult issues to the Residence Management team.
When mail and parcels are delivered to the site office, ensure that they are sorted and appropriately dispensed to residents or retained for their collection in a secure manner.
Ensure that all keys/key cards are securely stored and issued in accordance with Residential Services procedures and that appropriate records are accurately completed and maintained.
Record maintenance tasks and repairs and issue these tasks to the appropriate member of the Residences team, Estate Services team or log them onto the electronic reporting system.
Undertake general administrative tasks i.e. filing, inputting/maintaining information on databases and electronic management systems.
Training of new staff.
Ensure, as far as is reasonably practical, the security of persons and property in the site residence, maintaining an incident logbook as required.
Patrolling internally and externally.
Health & Safety Checks to be carried out.
Responding to emergencies and alarm activations.
Acting in a pastoral capacity, to carry out follow up visits to students after incidents, complaints, or where welfare/health issues have occurred, encouraging students to understand the impact of their behaviour/actions, or checking on any ongoing health and wellbeing concerns.
While on duty, to support the welfare and well-being of residents by ensuring an appropriate level of discipline and safety.
