About The Role

We are looking for a Support Worker (nights) to provide waking nights cover at Bristol Foyer, our accommodation based service for 16-25 year olds. Our Foyer offers emergency and short term accommodation for young people who are experiencing homeless or threatened with homelessness.

You will work closely with other teams across the service to provide different levels of practical support to young people. This is lead by their individual goals, aspirations and will include; time spent listening to people who need to talk, doing welfare checks and carrying out inspections to ensure the health, safety and security of the building.

One of the great things about this role is being able to bring your own personality. Our young people come from a wide range of backgrounds and we try to mirror that in our staff team.

This role will involve working on a 4 on / 4 off basis, between 7pm to 6am.

The most important part of this role is to have pride in your work and have a positive attitude, a proactive approach and the confidence to support a diverse range of young people. You will be able to balance your passion and commitment with good organisational skills, and the ability to maintain professional boundaries.

This role is really suited to someone who likes to interact with young people but also being alert to changes of risk and needs of the young people.

About The Candidate

To be a successful Support Worker - Nights, you will be/have:

- A good understanding of young people’s needs, safeguarding and emotional and mental health issues.
- An understanding of support needs and support planning.
- Understand risk assessing and risk management.
- An ability to engage with a range of young people.
- A tenacity in seeking the best outcomes for young people.

Ideally, you will be:

- Innovative and creative in your ways of working.
- Resilient and flexible in dealing with others.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Confident in lone working and be a good team player.
