Summary
About The Role
Morrison Energy Services is recruiting for a Principal CAD Technician - Substations to be part of our Substation Design team who are responsible for supporting the MESTN Substation Construction business.
We are looking for someone who can lead, co-ordinate and produce design engineering solutions to support our Electrical Transmission OHL and Substation construction projects with a primary focus on structural engineering. To lead and co-ordinate design projects ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
Your duties & responsibilities will be:
- To take the lead role in developing and maintaining policy, processes and training manuals for all substation CAD outputs.
- To be responsible for the quality of all substation CAD outputs.
- To develop and train others in the delivery of substation CAD deliverables.
- To support the production of tender and contract drawings and associated technical documentation.
- To provide technical 2D and 3D CAD drawing services to the business. This will include but not limited to Substation steelwork detailing, various OHL Assets, conductor fittings, tower fittings, maps, OHL profile drawings.
- To liaise and work closely with other members of the department to ensure effective project delivery.
- Liaise with OHL CAD Technicians and detailers to aid and provide effective drawing solutions.
- Attend and contribute to regular project briefings and team meetings.
- Assist in the running and maintenance of the CAD technical libraries.
- Assist the development of external CAD resources.
- Maintain effective communication and undertake any necessary correspondence with both internal and external clients.
- Attend and contribute to regular project briefings, team meetings and design review meetings with engineers and/or technicians where necessary
- Continually assess and review contract programme within design and innovation teams.
- Liaise with clients to provide input and scope for new standards/codes of practice.
- To work within established Company policies and procedures.
- Promote company values and standards and exhibit appropriate behaviour in accordance with Company ethos.
- Use talent and ability to encourage achievement and continuous improvement.
- To demonstrate safety, integrity & commitment at all times.
- Maintain excellent levels of communication throughout the team and the wider business.
- To carry out any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and satisfy customer needs.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements
- Sufficient experience in producing HV substation CAD / BIM outputs for the UK industry
- Expert user of Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD and other relevant CAD software
