Are you looking for your next opportunity as a Health & Safety Officer? Then look no further, come and join us at Hope House Children’s Hospices by playing a vital role in delivering ‘Our Mission’ Helping every child with a life-threatening condition live their best life.

We are looking for a Health and Safety Officer who can work 30 hours per week, on a permanent basis, with a base in either Conwy, Oswestry or Chester. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £34,439 - £40,937 FTE per annum, plus a pro rata car allowance.

About the Health and Safety Officer role

Your role as H&S Officer is to help us deliver Our Purpose, through developing a positive H&S culture, where our children, families, staff, volunteers and supporters feel protected and their safety is maintained.

With a focus on our retail operations, you will be an engaging individual, with great IT, communication and organisation skills. You will be comfortable delivering concise, balanced and pragmatic H&S advice to our retail management team.

You will also champion a positive H&S culture through the delivery of engaging training programmes, awareness campaigns, lessons learnt reviews and supportive H&S staff forums. Finally, you will ensure that we have a structured and compliant H&S system designed around concise and coherent policies, procedures, and risk assessments, safe systems of work and assurance audits.

Friendly and personable, you will be flexible in your approach to work and able to travel across Shropshire, Cheshire, North and Mid Wales to fulfil your duties.

We are looking for a Health & Safety Officer with


Minimum NEBOSH qualification
PTTLS Training Certificate or Level 3 Award in Education and Training
Demonstrable experience in a Health and Safety Officer role
An ability to draft concise and accurate risk assessments, policies, procedures and safe systems of work, and to complete assurance audits/inspections
An ability to interpret technical law or best practice, and applying this through concise, pragmatic & balanced advice/recommendations
An excellent understanding of HSE Management Systems and UK H&S legislation
Excellent organisational, multitasking, communication and IT skills
The ability to build string working relationships and influence at all levels
