A Vacancy at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well integrated team.

The post is to commence September 2025 for 12 months.

This Peri CCT Fellow post in Colorectal Surgery will be based at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne, with a potential contribution to emergency surgery at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. General Surgery is a busy directorate and the post will give significant experience in laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery, robotic abdominal wall and pelvic surgery, TEMS, extended resections for recurrent/locally advanced rectal cancer and abdominopelvic sarcoma surgery. It would be ideal for a surgeon with significant experience in surgery, towards the end of his/her training looking for further experience prior to commencing work as a consultant.

Please read attached Job Description and Person Specification.

This post is attached to the department of colorectal surgery based primarily at the Freeman Hospital but with some duties, possibly including on-call at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The individual will work alongside the colorectal surgeons at the Freeman Hospital. The individual will work on the specialist registrar tier and will, as such, be expected to perform duties and take clinical responsibility at this level. This post will be attractive to Peri and Post CCT individuals who require additional specialist training prior to applying for a consultant post.
