Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Project Manager
Location: Ipswich (with regular travel to London & Southeast)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Project Manager to join a well-established projects team. The role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in M&E systems, particularly within mechanical construction, HVAC, air conditioning, and refrigeration. This position offers the chance to lead diverse engineering teams and deliver complex projects across a range of sites, ensuring technical excellence and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities:The successful candidate will:
• Lead project teams to deliver mechanical and electrical installations on time and within budget
• Oversee Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices, ensuring projects are executed safely and in line with regulations
• Foster and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal departments to meet project goals
• Manage multiple projects concurrently, coordinating resources, controlling costs, and administering subcontractor activities
• Serve as the primary client interface, ensuring smooth project delivery and client satisfaction
• Review and interpret project plans, regulations, and codes to ensure full compliance and quality standards are met
• Play an active role in the tender process, including design, submission, and reviews
• Effectively manage project resources, mitigate risks, and provide detailed performance reports to senior management
• A minimum of 10 years' experience managing projects valued between £100K and £2M
• At least 8 years of experience in mechanical construction, HVAC, and commercial air conditioning systems
• Proven track record working on power generation projects is highly desirable
• Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate site teams and oversee subcontractors
• Extensive experience in project planning, contract negotiation, and defect management
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
• Qualification in a mechanical or electrical trade discipline (City & Guilds / NVQ Levels 2/3 or equivalent)
• A tertiary qualification in electrical engineering is desirable but not essential
