Liverpool Streetscene Services Ltd established in 2016 is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Liverpool City Council who sit at the heart of creating exceptional standards of environmental cleanliness and public realm services for residents, communities, and local businesses across the city of Liverpool. As a direct service provider, Liverpool Streetscene Services Ltd are responsible for the following services throughout the city of Liverpool:
• Waste Management - Refuse & Recycling Collection Service
• Street Cleansing
• Green spaces – Parks, Cemeteries and Highways Grounds Maintenance
• Highways Maintenance
These services are key to ensuring the City of Liverpool remains clean, green and accessible to all, helping to develop and maintain local civic pride. We are ambitious, both as an organisation and as a city. Our plans for growth coupled with the high standards that we set for our services requires exceptionally talented individuals who will be enthusiastic about being part of this organisation.
We are seeking to recruit a driver operative as part of Neighbourhood Alleyways team to provide effective driver and operative functions to maintain and continuously improve the image of LSSL across the company.
You will be required as part of this role to carry out waste removal of bulk items and white goods from identified alleyways across the city. You will undertake a full range of functions incorporating manual and mechanical plant and equipment methods of operation including sweeping of Alleyways. You will be required to drive vehicles of 7.5 tonne therefore a C1 licence is essential.
As part of the role you will be required to present refuse and bulk items for collection to the vehicle using appropriate tools and safe manual handling methods and where appropriate safely operate the vehicle mechanism for loading and emptying and return refuse bin to place of origin once emptied.
You will be required to remove any weed growth from identified alleyways across the city boundary through strimming, scuffing and weed spraying operations.
Please note a weed spraying qualification is not essential however you must be willing to undertake your LANTRA qualifications in weed spraying (PA1 & PA6).
You will assist with reactive tasks providing a targeted and flexible response to environmental problems reported across alleyways within the city boundary.
To fulfil the requirements of the role you must have a full UK driving licence. You must have knowledge of health & safety requirements and have the ability to work as part of a team. An ability to take responsibility of your own workload and maintain high standards of work is essential.
Salary: Scale 4, SCP 11 - £25,979 + irregular hours allowance of £1497.81
Contract: Full time permanent.
Location: Newton Road, Liverpool, L13 3HS
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 2:00pm, 35 hours per week.
