The opportunity:
DriveSafe is a key partner of Safer Roads Greater Manchester, a multi-agency partnership committed to reducing the numbers of fatalities and injuries on Greater Manchester's roads, by changing driver attitudes and behaviour. We are responsible for delivering the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme on behalf of Greater Manchester Police.
As a self-employed Trainer you will undertake a challenging and varied role in providing training to the public across a variety of areas in order to deliver a comprehensive service to DriveSafe.
You would be required to deliver nationally accredited courses (for example the National Speed Awareness Course) at any of DriveSafe’s physical venues across Greater Manchester, as well as at home using your own IT equipment to deliver online courses via a digital platform.
What we’re looking for:
At DriveSafe we are always looking for suitable self-employed Trainers who are prepared to perform and achieve excellent standards to ensure our clients receive the best possible experience through a professional delivery.
You’ll receive full training and will be entitled to claim a fixed fee (currently £27.00 - £33.00 per hour). Depending upon your availability and client demand, a variable number of hours (typically 12-30 hours per week) will be offered on a month-by-month basis.
We are looking to recruit Trainers who are able to deliver both our online and classroom courses (i.e. you must be willing to travel to any of our Greater Manchester course venues).
Person specification:
- Possess an extensive knowledge of the Highway Code.
- Understand the theories underlying behavioural change techniques and how these are expressed through course design
- Possession of a wide ranging knowledge of driver training is essential.
- Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and in plain language, both verbally and in writing.
- At least one year’s experience of delivering learning or training in a one-to-one and group settings.
- The ability to explore different driving scenarios with experienced drivers.
- Skills to challenge attitudes constructively.
- Skills to encourage individuals and groups to participate fully in courses.
- A proven ability to apply IT skills, including data entry.
- Experience of a working environment where administration skills were essential.
- Effectively deliver presentations accurately as specified in the course manual and demonstrate excellent group facilitation skills.
- Licenced by UK Road Offender Education (UKROEd) to deliver National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) course(s) or prepared to attend and pass the 2-day NDORS training course and comply with UKROEd licence requirements.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- A nationally recognised qualification in delivering training or an accreditation in delivering behavioural programmes for adults. e.g. PTTLS Level 4 or equivalent.
- Hold RoSPA Gold or Silver advanced driving certificate (or be prepared to obtain) - this must be renewed every 3 years.
- Hold a current Disclosure and Barring Service (Enhanced) certificate, including both child and adult barring lists (or be prepared to obtain).
