Quality Manager – North West
Due to our expansion, we are very pleased to offer an exciting full-time opportunity to champion world-class quality on our new United Utilities Enterprise Partnership in the North West, UK.
As a senior lead, you will support the delivery team to instil the desired quality culture to achieve ‘Right First Time Every Time’ outcomes, provide confidence (to internal and external stakeholders) we are compliant and help everyone to live our value of continually improve.

What you will be doing
- Establishing and implementing a quality strategy for the Framework (aligned to our Murphy Integrated Management System)
- Proactively driving the effective deployment of the Quality Management System including integration of best practice and innovative approaches for continual improvement
- Ensuring suitable mechanisms are established and deployed to progressively check and assure compliance; actively participating in checking activities (relevant to your technical competence)
- Supporting the achievement of ‘Fit to Finish’ (handover / completion) working collaboratively with others to enable effective close out of projects.
- Conducting regular inspections of sites and workplaces to determine whether work is being carried out in accordance with Company Policy, Procedures, and other stated requirements.
- Maintaining responsibility for the audit programme of the Framework and supporting attainment of third-party certification
- Establishing and deploying mechanisms to track / monitor / report quality management performance and identify improvement focus areas
- Championing quality improvement activities such as application of quality improvement tools, facilitating workshops, and investigation of quality incidents
- Championing and supporting activities including training / coaching / mentoring to instil the knowledge, skills, and mind sets to positively influence behaviours and embed a world-class quality culture
Who we are looking for
- Proven experience within a Quality managerial role
- Demonstrable site-based experience within civil engineering or construction is essential
- Experience within water industry would be beneficial
- Relevant Quality Membership (MCQI) is desirable
- Internal or Lead Auditor qualified
- Solid understanding of the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard
- MS package knowledge (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, MS Project)
- Full UK Driving Licence
About the FrameworkThe investment for 2025-2030 is United Utilities biggest ever environmental programme to deliver cleaner rivers and more reliable water supplies. Delivering circa £3bn of major infrastructure and non-infrastructure programmes, the work will include upgrades to wastewater treatment works and reducing spills from storm overflows.
