Crynodeb

We are delighted to present this opportunity for an experienced senior safeguarding colleague from within the Midlands area to work with the regional safeguarding team. It is expected that colleagues wishing to be considered for this opportunity will be registered with a professional regulator – Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), for instance. The time period for this will be negotiated but will in in the first instance be until 31stMarch 2025. In essence, the part time nature of the role will be for one – two days per week (to be negotiated). Applicants will need to have sought permission to be considered for this post from their employer prior to applying. Again, it will be negotiated with the successful colleague regarding where they undertake their Clinical Fellow hours – home based/ hybrid/ office – but meeting up with the Midlands Safeguarding team for in-person development time will be a requirement.

The rationale for this Clinical Fellow opportunity is to:

· Support the career development of safeguarding colleagues within the Midlands region

· Amplify the sharing of subject matter expertise experience and perceptions between the systems, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and the regional team and beyond

· Building on the collegiality of our joint approach of working across the region, together

Midlands Safeguarding works with ICB and system colleagues in the discharge of the regional statutory responsibilities for safeguarding as described in legislation. This role will expose the successful colleague to working in a regional and national strategic environment which then can enhance their personal operation back with their employer, as they develop their skills for the “now” and the “future”.

In collaboration with the successful colleague, we anticipate a development programme of experience during this secondment period. Within this opportunity, the Clinical Fellow will use their safeguarding expertise within the regional workplan structure but also as a subject matter expert stretch assignment for their career development. What the actual work that the Clinical Fellow is asked to be engaged with will be negotiated with the successful colleague.

The NHS England board have set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all, which will inform the detailed design work and we will achieve this purpose by:
• Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
• Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
• Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
• Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
• Delivering value for money.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

NHS England hold a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met. To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker routeyou’llusually need to be paid the ‘standard’ salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the ‘going rate’ for your job, whichever is higher.
